Create a Customer

From time to time, you may have a customer who has never visited your dealership before who may want to be texted with some information. In most cases, this customer would not be able to be texted because he or she had never been a customer there before. However, it is now possible to create these customers and add them to the Unotifi Communicator so you may text them.

How To Create a Customer

  1. Log into the Communicator with your regular credentials.

  2. Navigate to the Search tab on the left.

  3. Type in a customer’s name or phone number and click search.

    1. If you can’t find the customer as shown below, you may proceed to the next step.

  4. If the customer is not found, click on CREATE CUSTOMER.

  5. Type in as much information as you have. At minimum, you will need the customer’s first name, last name, and cell phone number.

  6. Next, click on Create.

    1. Note: If you do not add a VIN, you will receive a warning letting you know that you are adding a customer without an associated VIN. If this is intentional, click OK. If you’d like to add the VIN, click CANCEL and go back to add it.

  7. Once you click OK, you will be taken back to the Search box. Type in the customer’s information again and click search. This time, the customer will appear.

  8. Happy texting!

Recommendation: We recommend asking every new customer for their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) so you have it on file. By capturing this information from the customer and adding it to our system, you will have access to the vehicle’s CarFax service history data giving you insight into the vehicle’s maintenance records.
